An aerial view shows the world’s soon-to-be-largest steel mill looking north from the mouth of Baltimore Harbor on the Chesapeake Bay. Sparrows Point encompassed four miles of waterfront, employed nearly 30,000 workers, and produced more than 3,500 different combinations and grades of steel.
